Over $1 Million in Public Art Projects Available from the City of Austin Austin Art in Public Places deadline to apply online is August 18, 2022 at 5 p.m. The City of Austin Economic Development Department is featuring two public art project opportunities totaling over $1 million. Local or Texas-based artists can apply until August 18 for the artwork commissions, which range from $43,000 to $625,000. The total award includes design, fabrication, installation, engineering fees, travel and shipping expenses, insurance, and all other project-related costs.
The Red Bud Trail Bridge & Isle and the Longhorn Dam Bridge projects are open to all eligible artists in the state meeting the project criteria. Artists/Artist Teams familiar with the city’s pride in its diverse creative community are encouraged to apply. Additionally, artists/artists teams able to interact with the community and who understand that accessibility (both physical and conceptual) are paramount to this project, are also encouraged to apply.
