In 2012, Motoko Yasue arrived to Houston from her native Tokyo. Focused on her artist career in Houston, she graduated from the Glassell School of Art with a Certificate of Achievement in painting and earned an MFA in studio arts at Houston Christian
University in 2021. The Houston-based, award-winning artist has been showcased in numerous juried group exhibitions and at area museums, corporate offices, and galleries locally, nationwide, and internationally. Motoko’s contemporary art portfolio includes oil painting, watercolor, and 3-D works. Her abstract landscape theme emanates from her thoughts that human life and nature intermingle, creating life’s reality. Her dream-like depiction of the universe reveals the unconscious realm of the human mind incorporating her own dreams with reflections of her visual memories. She creates a moment wherein the viewer can find a moment of solace and strength within her work. Motoko and her works have also been the subject of solo exhibitions in her adopted state of Texas with another scheduled solo exhibit in Houston in the fall of 2026. Genre: Figurative |
